Alison Phipps suggests that women who think that men who commit sexual violence should go to prison, ideally for a long time, are “calling the manager” - in other words, they are Karens. Every time I think this woman has reached rock bottom, she finds a new way to shock me
Just call me Karen because once while I was a junior academic I was sexually harassed at a conference and I did report it to the manager ie the conference organisers, because what the hell else was I supposed to do? Mobilise a grassroots uprising among the entire delegation?
Oh and by the way reporting it to the organisers was terrifying and upsetting and they didn’t take me seriously at first and I had to fight to be listened to but by the end they agreed he should never be allowed to attend the event again, so I’m glad I did and would do it again
You shouldn’t want your sexual harasser to be fired, in case that makes your employer discriminate against gay people (?)
Anyway damn straight I’m punitive towards rapists, I know that’s terribly white of me
