A few words on #LFC’s situation right now -

City lost Laporte for what 20-25 league games last season. He was back at the end of January. They missed him so badly & with Stones also missing last season for some period, they played Fernandinho.

Whilst Fernandinho did a decent job, it wasn’t enough. They had issues as well, Rodri didn’t get any help either. Bernardo Silva had issues with his form for the whole season. Agüero like every season had injuries.
We have an even bigger situation (worse).

Van Dijk, Gomez & Matip are huge misses (obviously because of their defending ability & passing) but we’ve also had it overlap with Firmino’s steep decline & Manè’s worst period as a Liverpool player perhaps.
On top of that, Diogo Jota is injured & he is the only quality backup for our front 3. No disrespect to Shaq but he’s not in that bracket anymore. Don’t even get me started on Origi.
Then we have issues in midfield.

Thiago who was brought into the midfield to add a variance to our game has had to play with players that won’t really work well with him. Hendo & Fab, two of our best midfielders when it comes to passing value & switching gears have been pushed back into defence out of necessity.
On top of that, we also have Naby Keita injured who is another valuable midfielder we have. We’re having to stick with Milner-Wijnaldum most of the time now & Wijnaldum has played an awful amount of games. Again, he was bound to have a bad run too.
Robertson again has had to play almost every game with Tsmikas out injured for a good period.
Injuries have basically messed us up but it has also kind of overlapped with a few key players being out of form & having had to be played out of position.

We’re massively underperforming & the law of averages in football always works, which means we’ll be back to our mean again (need players back for this & a break). That actually should be enough to get us a CL ticket for next season.
PS: I’m not insisting that I’m 100% correct here. It’s just a take. Might be a good take or a bad take but this is basically what I kinda feel. There are glaring issues but we’ve had a little too much as well.
