Thanks to @Cataranea's questions on Spartan Mosquito's Facebook page, it seems confirmed that for the Pro Tech's @EPA registration, efficacy data from experiments conducted outside were not submitted. It's unclear whether company even *has* data from replicated field trials. 1/n
And it's definitely confirmed that whoever penned the response to her questions is a patronizing jerk. 2/n
It's apparently true that the @EPA can allow pesticide companies to claim "kills X outside" based on laboratory experiments alone. That might be OK for many pesticides, but, dear God, *not* for an Attractive Toxic Sugar Bait (ATSB) device like the Spartan Mosquito Pro Tech. 3/n
An ATSB simply *has* to be evaluated outside. And the first hurdle is to show that it can attract mosquitoes, especially in yards with plenty of sugar sources (flowers and fruit). It's an easy experiment to do and I did it (link). 4/n https://colinpurrington.com/2020/09/spartan-mosquito-pro-tech-test/
As I shared last week, Spartan Mosquito hired Gunster Strategies Worldwide (the lobbying firm behind Brexit) to come up with a scheme to get the Pro Tech registered at the @EPA. We know some details of this scheme because a summary was posted on Gunster's website: 5/n
If YOU have a burning question about the Spartan Mosquito Pro Tech, please go to Spartan Mosquito's Facebook page and see whether you can get a response out of them. And please share answers with me. 6/n https://www.facebook.com/spartanmosquito

And for the sake of full disclosure, Spartan Mosquito is suing me (and is being sued). More details on my blog. 8/n https://colinpurrington.com/2021/01/posts-about-spartan-mosquito/
