Along with IPL Dhoni's captaincy legacy in LOI is also a major reason why Virat gets this much hate as captain. Firstly I am not a hater of Dhoni, I really appreciate his contribution in Indian cricket and really admire him. But I am just saying what I observed.
In 1983 India won WC under Kapil Dev and after that we didn't win for 28 years. In these 28 years we were almost habitual of getting heartbreaks in WC. And never seen people calling those captain "pathetic" whether it would be Azhar, Ganguly, Dravid etc.
Maybe people used to understand that a captain alone can't win WC unlike recent times. Now coming to WC2011. In this WC we were really a strong team. Players were giving a complete team performance. Yuvi was on fire. Sachin was highest run scorer, Zaheer highest wicket, it was
overall a complete team performance. When we reached to finals, expectations was high that maybe the drought of 28 years will be over now and it did. In the final Dhoni played really well, those 91 runs and that last six settled in our hearts so deep that we still can't move on
After that it has become like "Dhoni won the WC" instead of team India, he already won the WT2007 and this WC added new star into his legacy. CT13 was cherry on cake. In this Dhoni failed with bat, scored 0 in the final, VK was highest run scorer in final, Jadega was
MOM, Dhawan was outstanding in the entire tournament but still it becomes like we won becoz of "Captain Dhoni". Of course it was his team and he lead really well but we won 3 ICC trophies only becoz of Dhoni's captaincy is completely wrong. if it so then we shouldn't have lost
7 ICC trophies under him. So should we blame Captain Dhoni for it? I won't becoz he can't do anything if team won't turn up. And now people have same expectation from VK and when we couldn't win CT17 and WC19 all start questioning his captaincy as we lost only becoz of him.
And now it's become a simple target to point out captaincy for each and everything. No matter he failed as batsman or not but question will be on his captaincy only. Mostly people in India don't watch test, they just watch LOI and mostly WC. So they judge everything on the basis
of those. Virat is most successful test captain of India but still people don't accept it. He already surpassed Dhoni but people still want to sack him from test captaincy. This
really doesn't matter to them, his captaincy in test is so underrated becoz he didn't win ICC trophy

and IPL. Now they just wait for one reason to drag his captaincy even in tests one bad test and they forget his previous test record. These ICC maces, BGT really doesn't matter to them. He took the team from 7 to 1 but still want to sack him. They have just learned one sentence
"Greatest batsman and pathetic captain". In CT17, WC19 our entire top order failed but named him only as " Choker" and forget all those amazing knocks in WT2014 final, WT2016 SF, CT13 final, CT17 SF. And blame his captaincy for his batting failure becoz that's the easy target now
Some are saying this WT2021 would be his last chance as he already captained 10 ICC events and lost all of them. He just captained two and we reached to SF and Finals which isn't that bad imo. Not saying he didn't make any mistake in those tournament but blaming his captaincy
Only doesn't make any sense. blame his batting instead of captaincy in those impt matches. And if you still think he isn't good captain in tests then simply you can't digest the fact that "he is most successful test captain of India"

hate him simply for this reason. And projected him as "arrogant" They can't differentiate between "aggression" and "arrogant". They simply want a cool guy like Rahane to lead team. And VK's simple image in general as " He is a star, married to Bollywood actress" so can't be
Good captain. A captain should always be simple living guy as per their logic. Well I know after this long thread of mine you will be bored till now and this thread won't change anything. People still demand to sack him from captaincy. But one thing really breaks my heart that
Some Dhoni and Rohit fans wants India to loose WT20 this year so Dhoni can remain only captain to win it and VK can be sacked from captaincy. But I know nothing will happen by their wish.Just want to end with one thing~

he scored 2 ducks in WC2007 and same people made him hero after WC2011. Similarly Virat was villan when he scored 1 run in WC15 against Aus in Semifinals but same people made him hero when he socred match winning 82* against same Aus in semifinals of WT2016.
People will always bash you, pull you down, make fun of you in your failures but same people will make you hero when you will get success. So i am just believing in the universe and hoping for the best
