The 5 BIG mistakes this 18 year old kid made while growing his lead gene agency to $15k+ MRR

A thread:
1/ Growing too fast
Got a little too excited when I got my first couple of payments,
Got 6 domains
Got 4 writers
Started sending 350+ emails per day in last week of November 2020
Calendly sending me 7 calls a day even after heavy qualification

Calendly sending me 7 calls a day even after heavy qualification
Got too messed up and had to stop.
Lesson learnt:
Build your systems first
Scale later

2/ Tried Facebook ads
Not precisely a 'mistake' but lost $500 without getting on a single call.
For context:
Spending $500 on cold emails could easily get you 30+ calls.
Lesson learnt:
Start with one client acquisition method and do only that until you are at least $20k/mon.

3/ Not building systems and SOPs
I was a systems noob.
Enter @THETYFRANKEL
Learnt how to structure my agency, build systems, hire people in my team so I could get away from doing $6/hour jobs.
Hired an operations manager (didn't even know that term existed loll)

I was training my first line writers manually
ONE-ON-ONE
on google meet
It was a total mess.
Then Ty gave me his first lines SOP (now Publicly available as god-level first lines) and I understood what building SOPs meant only after that.

4/ Paying less
Was paying my writers $4/hour
Obvously got shitty ones
Doubled the pay,
Quality went through the roof

5/ Bluntly copying what was working
While emulating what is already working is a good idea for beginners, bluntly copying all the scripts and sequences made me slow.
This wasn't a problem when I started in September, but then everyone started to build a cold email agency lmao.

I had no USPs.
I was becoming like everyone (or everyone like me but does that matter?)

Then I changed my domain, niche, offer and service.
Not telling anyone about it.
Lesson learnt:
- Don't copy. Emulate.
- If you are not making majority of your money selling info-products, don't share everything about your business.
