I'm exhausted. I went from the frying pan into the fire, 3 surges between NYC & Arizona. Sleepless nights filled with haunting memories - last words, sobbing eyes & shrill cries. Yet OUTSIDE the hospital, the pandemic is nonexistent, which is demoralizing. https://www.kqed.org/news/11855199/exhausted-health-care-workers-feel-betrayed-by-those-who-ignore-covid-rules
It's been 11 months & I remember all my patients stricken by COVID. The look of fear in their eyes before I intubate. The depression that follows, if they survive, finding out other friends & family have died. All the while, battling COVID & vaccine misinformation. I'm exhausted
Anti-maskers stand firmly behind individual rights, yet scoff at school staff, etc RIGHTFULLY terrified of falling ill to COVID due to unsafe working conditions. While school staff die from COVID, their deaths are downplayed. 3,200 Americans dying a day. But TRUST US, it's safe.
Healthcare workers are exhausted, but so too are our teachers and education support staff. There is a lot of pressure to get things "back to normal" with little regard for their emotional well-being & safety. Follow @LostToCovid. Amplify the tweets. Support our educators
