1. The Lord’s Day. The Day early Christians chose to gather to commemorate the Resurrection of Jesus the Christ. This day has become painful for many b/c they are spiritual abuse survivors & today is know it as “church day”. Beloved, if that is you, I understand & I’m sorry.
2. I want to invite you into a reflection that my wife & I used to recover/continue to recover from our own spiritual abuse trauma. Consider seeking to reorient your perspective into seeing today not as “church day”, but rather the Lord’s Day. Today isn’t abt “church” but abt Him
3. Today is about Jesus & His resurrection and in that, about you. Jesus rose so that you one day will. He took on a glorified state free from physical pain & sickness so that you one day will. He rose to take his place as Lord over the cosmos & see its full redemption + justice.
4. The Lord’s Day is about Jesus’ glory & the future redemption of the entire cosmos which includes your perfect healing along with Justice reining over all things. Today, the Lord’s Day, is a day to commemorate the promise of God that all things will be made right & new. Shalom.
5. Finally, Jesus is not contained within a building or service. If church services are currently triggering for you, it’s okay to avoid being triggered. Center this day on Christ whether that overflows into watching a church service or feeling covered by his presence in bed.
