What are the steps to realistically and safely re-opening schools in a way that would be fair to all stakeholders (not just bowing to political pressure):

1) Vaccinate all staff

2) Update all HVAC systems to meet CDC rec’s, making sure to assess mold and rodent issues

1/?
3) If you are planning summer school/year round, go ahead and make sure the A/C is functional.

4) Increase staff to accommodate the hybrid classroom - simultaneously teaching one group live and another group online is actually 2 jobs.

2/?
5) Ban all indoor dining (and outdoors in a tent, come on, that’s INDOORS!) etc until community rate is acceptably low.

6) Provide community health services to all students and families, but especially to those who actually need it.

3/?
7) Increase custodial staff (actual staff, not contracted help) to handle increased daily workload.

8) Ensure at least one nurse in every school.

9) Have plenty of extra PPE handy for the inevitable forgetful students.

10)while we are daydreaming, enough soap and tp.

4/
No idea the cost of all this, but I am almost 100% positive that whatever is being offered currently won’t cover it.

What have I forgotten?
