At least in GHZ (have not really seen outside), all of TSRTC's scheduling is done assuming that the buses are always driving at max speed. Some of them do account for peak hour traffic, but they still assume that the bus will go as fast as it can even then. This should change.
Give drivers some leeway. Let them drive comfortably. Slower buses are safer and more comfortable for passengers too. Our drivers are always under so much stress, this will help with that also. Stop trying to squeeze as much kms operated as possible, this is pointless and unsafe.
Also, punctuality. Buses being on time has much more to do with how they are scheduled and not with how fast the driver drives. Every bus can be on time if the schedules are adjusted accordingly.
For example, if a bus got stuck at some congestion, crew might not have enough time to have their lunch before next trip starts. If they choose to eat, like any normal human would, bus will be "late". Why should the choice be between staying on time and eating lunch?
What ends up happening is that the crew obviously still needs to eat, so they will. After that they will try to still stay on time by driving at unsafe speeds, because if they are late then that causes problems for them at the depot.
Take route 195. It used to have 8 scheduled trips (up+down) from Bachupally to Waverock. Including lunch time, total driving time is supposed to be 7 hours. Everyone knows that peak hour traffic on HITEC ROB means a single trip can take almost 2 hours. How to do 8 trips in 7 hrs?
So finally crew is left with no choice but to drive dangerously fast to meet schedules as much as possible.

Just normalise driving slow. Slow = late is a wrong mindset. You can still be on time if you are slow. Slow = safe.
Not just buses, anyone. There should be a blanket speed limit within the city of 40 kmph.
