This is an excellent read from @ArponBasu with pointed examples of how acquired assets were turned into important pieces of the #habs.

One of the #habs most important assets is a cup-winning coach. And I’m glad to hear he looked like a man who was clearly concerned. As @WaveIntel noted, if Julien can turn an awful loss and an awful win into coaching opportunity, these 2 games will be worth it.
Another important asset the #habs have is an excellent taxi squad. If you’re going to claim fatigue after playing 4 in 6, you’re going to have to explain why you didn’t use it. Especially when your competitor played 4 in 7. No disparity here to speak of.
Last year the #habs added Kovalchuk for nothing. Then traded him in TDD for a 3rd. Then traded that 3rd for Allen. Allen is already paying dividends, but he may yet pay more if chosen by Seattle instead of some of the young talent.
Is anyone still complaining that the #habs added a 3rd to Domi in order to acquire Anderson? Especially when they had three seconds in that same draft? Excellent use of that asset!
The #habs are tight against the cap. And it’s not hard to see a couple of holes that should be filled before TDD. To do that, they’re going to have to move an asset to find cap space. And there happens to be a guy they claimed off waivers that is an excellent candidate.
