Even on form I think Scott Brown is wasted in home game vs bottom 6 team.

He ends up picking up ball too deep unnecessarily and slows down build up play, instead of finding positions behind the first press.

But yesterday his defensive work was abject on three key occasions 👇🏼
Here, Chris Long receives ball right outside pen box, between Brown & McGregor.

He has a bad first touch but even so Brown rushes in and completely misses the tackle, leaving Long open in very dangerous area with Ajer eventually inches away from giving away a pen.
Here, Long picks up ball deep, as Brown rushes in. Again, he overcommits as Long skips away from him.

Brown drops deep and with the space given to him Long advances, Brown giving him the time & space to see Devante Cole’s run and thread pass to him, forcing save out of Bain.
Here’s the goal.

Campbell picks up ball and advances to edge of box. Brown rushes out but is yet again bypassed easily in a very dangerous area, giving Campbell the time and space to take a shot. It deflects off Welsh and loops in over Bain
I don’t mind giving Ismail Soro the occasional game off, but I see very little point in bringing Scott Brown in for him, especially in games such as this.

Brown’s offensive contribution have been limited for a while, but this season he has also struggled defensively.
