If you are looking for ideas on virtual WBD, here's what I am [probably] going to do @Team_English1
I'd LOVE to know what you are all doing!
Thread

1) launching the virtual library - for example: https://twitter.com/ColchesterHS/status/1357110526531223555?s=20
Other examples of a virtual library https://twitter.com/swilkin2004/status/1357039651538755587?s=20
2) a bit of fun recreate a book cover (google loads come up). Make it into a little competition, with house points and free book for winner.
3) Read a short story at the start of each lesson for the day. I'm going for Jon for short by Malorie Blackman after @LNS_MissJ recommendation: https://twitter.com/LNS_MissJ/status/1346143265146494978?s=20
4) I'd forgotten about this until @evebrindley reminded me - Asking all subject teachers to read from a book connected to their subject as a starter - shows the importance of wider reading.
5) I've purchased a book for all KS3, but can't give until we are back using @Booktrust book buzz

6) I will ask staff to change their TEAMS background to a fav book or their bookcase - this will show students all day that we read widely. It is very easy to do just take a photo and upload via the background settings and add new. Simple but effective https://twitter.com/AlwaysLearnWeb/status/1354830292649963520?s=20
7) We have a weekly "student notices" and I will add some bookish things on student notices lifted from @WorldBookDayUK site https://www.worldbookday.com/2020/03/book-ideas-hub-brilliant-stay-at-home-ideas-free-resources/
8) Possibly the most important - we talk about books, we ask what are students reading, do you like it etc.
We hold assemblies on the importance of wider reading, we run challenges all year on reading, we recommend books, we do book displays!

I've tweeted out a questionnaire to find out what our students read and what they would recommend.
Have a great virtual WBD21
