During an online class visit last week I asked 16 US undergraduate film students where they go for film criticism:
63% go to YouTube (reviews, video essays, reactions)
43% go to websites (newspapers, magazines, blogs)
31% go to @letterboxd
25% go to TikTok

This is a small data set, but it's enough to trigger a sense that the threshold of critical practice being audiovisual vs. textual is being crossed (if it hasn't been already) at least as far as an everyday cultural practice.
The question remains: how do educators and institutions position themselves in the face of these shifting cultural practices.
How will they follow and how can they lead?
