Many members won't realise but the last time the greenstaff were able to complete any maintenance to the greens was 23rd December since then we have had 8+ inches of rain, snow lying on the course and frozen ground. We are just as frustrated with the weather as the members are!
We still try to be active and continue to work on course improvements while working through a pandemic and juggling the weather conditions! Every morning during the course inspection we take into account current conditions, the days forecast, previous weeks rainfall,
health and safety to the golfer, potential damage with volume of golf and caddy car users. Not all golf clubs are the same the weather can be completely different within a 5 minute drive so all courses will have a different set up by there dedicated greenkeeping team's!
It's only February and this cold spell looks to continue if we could predict the weather we would but unfortunately we have to let nature run its course. Please remember when you're frustrated the green staff are just as frustrated as you!
