Maybe this isn't well understood, but can all the pākehā be taught that te Tiriti was signed during a period of French invasion of Te Moananui-A-Kiwa. That the only reason it would have been accepted at all was the real external threat of French invasion.
One of the promises was that it would give Māori international standing against French aggression. Same reason as te Kīngitanga. Our tupuna didn't surrender anything.
They tried to get international standing to safeguard Te Ao Maori. That's how fucking barbaric y'all are.
You rocked up with a system of international law and then ignored any attempts for non Europeans to gain standing to safeguard against your blood lust. It was low rent protection racket that would shame a cutthroat.
