QUANTUM OF SOLACE is a film about James Bond saving Evo Morales from a CIA/State Department-backed coup triggermanned by NGOs/Big Tech, based loosely on the actual Bolivian water privatization scandal. And it doesn't spend 40 minutes getting to the point
opera setpiece/the intercut opera fight probably the best part of the entire craig bond series
everyone wilds out over Leiter but it's Mathis that has by far the most compelling two-movie story in CR/QoS
easily the biggest problem with this movie is the French-Ukrainian actress they have in brownface for the lead. even with decent politics by accident/happenstance, it's still Hollywood
what this movie needed to get everyone on board was an extra back-end setpiece where bond 86s a CIA hit team. it wouldn't really add anything to the movie and would fuck the pacing, but it would be Memorable
never understood the critique about the script not making sense. biggest logic jump is the money thing that puts them on the guy in haiti in the very beginning, and that's just standard movie technobabble
lol I forgot there is a scene with a CIA kill team. but Bond just runs away. The special relationship ruins another thing
leaving a guy in a desert with a bottle of motor oil to drink is simply a top-tier bond kill
