also, i've had very rough phases with gacha games in the past, like love live and overwatch. i've developed multiple rules to keep me safe from falling into the impulse gacha gambling hole. here's a few tips for anyone else struggling:
1) always say out loud when you feel the itch to buy [premium gacha currency]. putting it into words will give you time, and will let your friends know. this will force you to face *why* you want to do this.
2) whenever i put money into a gacha game or a microtransaction, i put an equal amount to a saving's account. i suddenly have to justify spending double the money. it becomes much less appealing to impulse buy.
3) do noot spend on anything that doesn't give you a guarantee. genshin impact guarantees a 5* object when you hit 90 pulls (still predatory and encourages you to pull A LOT). but love live doesn't even give you that. putting money somewhere that will never reward you is useless.
4) give yourselves incentives! do commissions, do errands, etc, put aside money just because you want to get a specific character. don't impulse buy "just cause". focus on things you care about.
5) most importantly: be open. don't be ashamed about it. a lot of folks get roped in without even recognizing it's a form of gambling addiction. talk about it! i do, a lot. that's what's kept me safer! enjoy stuff, have fun but be careful.
