Thread about what's happening in Haiti right now. TL;DR is that the US government is propping up a dictator that is brutally repressing the African people of that nation. As usual.
The mandate of Haiti's current president (hand selected and forced upon the people by the U.S./U.N/France/Canada/OAS) comes to an end tomorrow, and he's vowing to stay in power longer.
And, yesterday, the Biden administration and the white colonial rulers over Haiti (the Core Group, UN, OAS) have accepted to support this illegal move.
Tomorrow, Feb. 7th, is also the 35th anniversary of the ouster of dictator "Baby Doc" Duvalier. So far, there has been nonstop protests, a general strike, and continuing violence. It remains to be seen what will happen tomorrow.
Please don't accept the narrative that the situation *just* became bad in Haiti. Here are some links that provide longer historical context for what's happening --especially the 2004 coup detat against Aristide, and the 2011 fraudulent elections forced by the Obama administration
