I could treat my neighbor with different values than me with love and kindness OR I could write about the prick in the LA Times. Which is going to be more effective? Hmmm, no idea.
My neighbor voted for Trump. He thinks Hillary Clinton is a she-devil and is a lifetime member of the NRA. He’s also not a huge fan of the gays, or he wasn’t until my wife and I moved across the street and actually spent time with him. This is how you change people.
My goal, btw, is not actually to change people but I have a feeling Heffernan’s is (and she will not succeed this way).
