How the Brooklyn Nets became contenders after making the WORST trade of franchise history.

In the ‘13 Offseason, the Boston Celtics were looking to rebuild and to move on from KG and Pierce.
The only team willing to trade for KG, Pierce and Terry were the Brooklyn Nets.
So Danny Ainge decided to trade them to the Nets.
The Brooklyn Nets received:
Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Jason Terry, and D.J White
The Boston Celtics received: Gerald Wallace, Kris Humphries, MarShon Brooks, Kris Joseph, Keith Bogans and the ‘14, ‘16, ‘17, and ‘18 picks.
The 2014 pick became James Young.

The 2016 pick became Jaylen Brown.

The 2017 pick became All-NBA performer, Jayson Tatum.

The 2018 pick was used for a package deal to bring Kyrie Irving.
The 2014 NBA Season:

After forming what expected to be a “Big 3”, the Nets made the playoffs with a 44-38 record.
The 1st Round of the 2014 NBA Playoffs:

The Nets would face the DeMar DeRozan led Toronto Raptors.

Paul Pierce had the game winning block in game 7 to help close out the series.
The 2nd Round of the ‘14 Playoffs:

The Nets would face LeBron James and the Miami Heat.

The Nets lost 2 straight games in Miami.

In Game 3, Joe Johnson led the Nets to a win with 19 points.

After this, the Nets lost 2 straight games and would lose the Series in 5 games.
2015 Off-Season:

Kevin Garnett decided to return to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Paul Pierce joined the Washington Wizards.
2015 Off-Season (Con’d):

The Nets acquired Rondae Hollis- Jefferson.
In Feb. 2016, The Brooklyn Nets named Sean Marks as the new General Manager.
The 2016 NBA Season:

—Made Kenny Atkinson the head coach.

—The Nets signed one of the best shooters in the league in Joe Harris.

—Signed Spencer Dinwiddie.

The Nets finished last in the Eastern Conference with a 20-62 record.
In the 2017 NBA Off-Season:

—The Nets used the 22nd pick to draft Jarrett Allen.

—Traded Brook Lopez and Kyle Kuzma’s draft rights for D’Angelo Russell.
The 2017-2018 NBA Season:

The Brooklyn Nets finished 12 in the Eastern Conference with a 28-54 record.
The 2018-2019 NBA Season:

— D’Angelo Russell made his first All-Star appearance.

DLo led the Brooklyn Nets to the playoffs with a 42-40 record (6th seed in the East).
The 2019 NBA Playoffs:

The Brooklyn Nets faced the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round.

The Nets would win Game 1 but would lose 4 straight to get eliminated.
The 2019 Off-Season:

—The Nets signed Kyrie Irving and DeAndre Jordan as free agents.

—The next day, they packaged DLo in a sign-and-trade for Kevin Durant.
The 2019-2020 NBA Season:

—Kevin Durant could not play this season due to recovering from an Achilles Injury.

—Kyrie Irving would only play 20 games until he got a season ending shoulder surgery.

The Nets would still make the playoffs as a 7th seed with a 35-37 record.
The 2020 Playoffs:

The Nets would face the Toronto Raptors in the first round.

They got swept by them.
The 2020-2021 NBA Season
(so far):

—Kevin Durant would make his first official debut as a Brooklyn Net.

A few weeks later, the Nets formed a Big 3 of James Harden, Kevin Durant, and Kyrie Irving.
What The Nets Traded:

The Nets traded Jarrett Allen, Taurean Prince, Caris LeVert, Kurucs, 3 first-round picks and 4 first-round pick swaps in a 4-Team Trade.
What The Nets Received:

James Harden and the 2024 second-round pick (Via. Cavs).
A few weeks later, the Nets signed Free Agents, Iman Shumpert and Norvel Pelle.
