Lots of dicussion about sufc/CW/PA relationship, recruitment etc. My opinoin....

This is a pretty sad thing to be played out so publically from both sides. There's a clear disconnect between 2 that seems beyond repair & that normally only ends in 1 way, which is the way....
no Blades fan should want this to go, CW not being here long term.

To the question of the recruitment. We clearly do not invest budget into the club that others do. We clearly don't have scope to compete with 95% of PL clubs.

The budget will have been known before....
identifying players. So every club in this country starts talking to agents/clubs to find out what is financially viable. To say we identified Watkins, Cash, Eze, Robinson, Swift & Davies & didn't get them is a bit of a nonesense. There's over 60m in fees there and countless....
more in wages. So was the recruitment within the budget set good enough? time will tell. Would suggest not for the purpose of staying in PL but long term these players should be good.

Is the budget CW has to work with good enough? No, probably not. He's dragged the club to....
this point and to 9th in the PL. He most likely and rightfully feels like he deserves some more £ to give him a fighting chance at 1st sign of a struggle.

Ultimately there's a lot of nonesense being spoken on Twitter. Until club accounts are released, no one will know...
How much of the TV money we have utilised on playing squad, if that is enough & if we can judge board fairly in terms of resource given. I don't buy the argument we identified 4 players and didn't get them so that's terrible. That happens up and down the country at clubs....
you have fall back targets, you have plans, you work to budget given no matter how bad. I do feel for CW that this has happened this year, with no fans, with constant injuries and such a drop in form, it's made this situation 10x worse, when in reality nothing has gone his way.
ultimately he's the best manager we will ever have. You hope as a fanbase the board give him everything they possbily can within framework of sustainablity to give him every chance to take this club forwards. It appears he doesn't feel that way. If that's the case this isn't good
Ultimately the summer signings are starting to show potential now - When you sign young as we did & not quite ready for level they need time to develop and learn roles. That's happening but it's likely too late. If you want PL ready you often have to pay the wages.
Our 1st choice targets would clearly have lifted the ceiling of the 1st 11 but also would have taken us to a new financial level. When you're a minnow shopping in shark infested waters & you don't often get prime meal.
But look around football, look at the mess many "big" clubs are in, the level they are at. In middle of a pandemic we have to be thankful for a board looking after the club's long term future too. Too many times in past this has been a 2nd thought. It's hard balancing act.
The board have definitley backed CW previously so evidence would suggest don't doubt them. PA & the board want the best for the club long term that's perfect for me as a fan. Let's plan accordingly and build on this short PL stint using it to our advantage.
And i'll repeat this until i'm blue in the face - suggesting the recruitment needs looking at doesn't need to be negative, we cannot go on forever only recruiting british based players doing well in Championship, there's zero longevity in that.
