He was ridiculously pro nazi and went as far as to call Hitler a “prophet of the gospel of justice.” He did a tour of Germany during World War II and was so pleased with his host he gifted his Nobel medal to Josef Goebbels. He only met Hitler once for a 45-minute interview.

After the Nazis were defeated he was booked under charges of treason, and was shipped off to a mental asylum and on that basis a civil liabilities case was raised on him.

He was deprived of all his property and eventually died penniless as angry crowds burnt his books in Norway.
Moral:
In any civilised world there is no space for a sympathiser of any fascist/supremacist ideology.
