Reminder: Lee Smith is a Hudson Institute ghoul & former fellow at FDD, one of the many neoconservative think-tanks & lobbying groups which were formed after 9/11: https://twitter.com/tabletmag/status/1357350705841934342
Smith shares the Iran hawkishness and Zionism which characterizes both FDD & Hudson (the latter of which which received grants from the Scaifes, Kochs, DuPont, Exxon, Monsanto, & so on, as well as mysterious DoJ money - not sure on this? Anyone know?)
Tablet Magazine itself is owned by Nextbook, and according to the 990s thereof, soaks up over half of its expenses.
Nextbook is largely an advocacy group for Jewish culture. It was founded Elaine "Mem" Bernstein, widow of investment firm bigwig & famous philanthropist, Zalman Bernstein - who worked as a Marshall Plan advisor!
Zalman founded the Tikvah Fund, a group infamously drowned in interlocking board structures with the conservative-Zionist think tank machine. Elaine (the widow) is on the board, as are Bill Kristol and Bush legal guy Jay Lefkowitz.
The chairman is Roger Hertog who worked at Zalman's firm before his death - in 2002 the firm was disbanded & merged under Alliance Capitol to become AllianceBernstein (Kristol served a director here). He retired from AB & moved to Tikvah.
"Hertog has served on the boards of the American Enterprise Institute, the Council on Foreign Relations, as well as journalistic ventures such as Commentary and National Affairs."
You could write an entire book on Tikvah; they donate to institutions in Israel like Shalem College, which run seminars favorable to US-Israeli policy.
Honestly if you're seeing these names side-by-side and not immediately getting massive red flags, I don't know what to tell you
The short version: this kind of ChiCom panic-mongering is simply carrying water for the kleptocracy's foreign policy machine
