Question. If you are a Christian who has done the hard, yet beautiful work of deconstructing and rebuilding your theological house, what was it that led you to begin the deconstruction process? 1
For me, it was the cognitive dissonance of seeing a friend in an abusive marriage counseled in toxic & spiritually abusive ways by our church. On the heels of this, I became an advocate for http://JusticeForSankey.com . So, abuse in the Church brought me to my deconstruction. 2
Finally, I began to grapple w/the gifts I have been given & realized they weren't fully welcome in many churches. Then my husband suggested I go to seminary, & the rest is history. Some things still feel raw, but I know it's a gift I've come out the other side w/a deeper faith.
