I am aware there are terrible parents in this world, believe me. A public school system can handle a few kids who have nothing at home; increasingly, in part *because* the schools make it so easy to do so, parents just quit parenting. The schools cannot raise them. They cannot.
They are barely educating them in some places. They cannot be mom & dad. People who were raised by the public schools are now having kids, & guess what? The cycle repeats in some cases. The system cannot do that which it was never designed to do.
Teachers are asked to meet needs they cannot possibly meet. They cannot meet the emotional needs parents should meet; they cannot be mama & teacher. There are a myriad of issues with public schools, but a lack of functional parents in this nation is absolutely one.
Are some teachers selfish & terrible? Yes, we've seen that lately with regard to unions. Many do want to teach, but they flee the public schools because they rarely actually teach; they're handed garbage woke curriculum & asked to be both parent & teacher. It's unsustainable.
You cannot legislate away this problem or throw money at it. A society with a dwindling number of functional adults who are mature enough to parent the kids they have will collapse at some point. A few loose bolts we can handle, but the scales are tipping dangerously.
