My Twitter Journey — An ode to Twitter (thread)
I've been scrolling Twitter for almost 9 years now. Think I've clocked more than 5000 hours of scrolling easily.

Not really proud of it. Honestly, I'm absolutely addicted. But Twitter has been hugely formative in my development as an individual.
I spent the first 2-3 years engaging in pointless political debates with strangers. Kind of regret it, but it forced me to learn how to write and articulate my thoughts.

Also learned the hard way that arguments are absolutely worthless. https://twitter.com/kunaaaaaal/status/1291653303734923264
Once I got disillusioned with politics, I switched to football twitter.

Lots of banter, lots of fun. Went down the football analytics rabbit hole. Made a bunch of friends across the world. Even hosted a couple of them on their visit to India. Realized how awesome the internet is
Then I inevitably got bored with football and found the "self-improvement" corner of Twitter.

I got exposed to many ideas that were outside my reality. Put on 15kg of muscle. Learned to make money online, quit my job. Improved my dating life. Made cool friends.
Also, people keep reiterating timeless wisdom in different ways here. It gets repetitive times, but all that repetition means it kind-of seeps into your subconscious. Which is priceless. Actually fundamentally changed my mindset and perspective on a lot of things.
You can get ahead of the curve on so many things by simply following the right set of people.

Folks on here predicted the pandemic back in Jan 2020 itself. I took that information, betted against the market, and made a big killing.
Then I got exposed to Crypto twitter just before this bull run started and joined the #Bitcoin cult.

I keep discovering new beautiful corners of twitter and life-transforming ideas. There's so much to learn. So many unique perspectives and opportunities.
I'm a big shill for Twitter. Use it the right way and it can absolutely transform your life. All you need to do is be yourself and chase your curiosities.

There's nothing quite like twitter. It enables the development of relationships like no other platform.
But yeah, gotta be careful. There's inevitably a lot of bullshit here, which you need to proactively identify and cut out.

Sometimes I get sucked into drama and petty games. Sometimes I scroll mindlessly.
I have also spent a lot of time consuming shallow content, which I justify to myself as increasing my breadth.

But now I seem to have found "my thing". So it's time for me to focus on depth and create stuff.
I'll be switching my attention from scrolling to notifications, DMs, and writing.

As an individual, I'm also coming into my own and learning to express myself more freely. And so I think I'm only starting to get the best out of Twitter.
If you're here, please don't sit on the sidelines. Come, participate. Put your thoughts down. Message random folks. Help others. Ask for help (my DMs are always open). Make friends.

The beauty of Twitter (and life) is that the more you give to it, the more it gives back.
Just push through that initial phase where it might feel like you're tweeting into the void.

Once you get a hang of it, Twitter is the best game ever. Here's a strategy guide to help you maximize the fun. https://twitter.com/visakanv/status/1094684057173016581
