Here's the MCU Wanda story, off the top of my head.

For those who need knowing.

This will ONLY cover MCU, not anything from the comics.

Wanda and her twin brother lived in a former Soviet/eastern bloc type country. It was war torn and shitty.

She and her brother were orphaned when a bomb...made by STARK TECH dropped into their house killing their parents. They were trapped next to the bomb for days, waiting for

it to explode before they were rescued. This fostered a deep anger and hatred.

They were picked somehow by Baron Strucker of Hydra to be part of an experiment to create beings with powers, using one of the power stones (later all collected for the infinity gaunlet)

These experiments are implied to have been painful and gruesome.

Wanda got reality bending powers and a form of telepathy. Her brother got super speed.

They align themselves with Ultron, after the AVENGERS take out Baron Strucker. Again they have EVERY PERSONAL REASON to oppose the Avengers and in particular...Tony Stark.

They don't realize what Ultron's end goals are, he's playing them.

Ultron seeks to create an extinction level event which will destroy all of humanity. When the twins discover this, they join with the Avengers to fight.

This results in Pietro (Wanda's twin) dying.

When he dies, Wanda seems to know instantly, though she's not there. She seems to suffer a momentary breakdown and loses it.

She also rips out the heart of Ultron, but at this point, he is many and not in one body.

Vision is created during this conflict. He has a vibranium body, the programming of Jarvis and the addition of the mind stone. The same stone which gave the twins their powers.

Eventually in additional movies the Avengers face down Thanos who wants to unite all the stones and fuck off half of all life...for REASONS.

He has to collect ALL the stones to do this, including the one in Vision's head.

Vision and Wanda have become lovers at this point and have had a relationship for awhile. LIke at least a year.

And they're forced to kinda sneak around because the world is scared of both of them.

So now the Avengers are like ...welp we gotta destroy that stone.

And Wanda is like 'Hey, fuck all of you'

And Steve (CAPTAIN FUCKING AMERICA) is like 'we don't sacrifice people' (despite his previous laying on the wire speeches)

SO THEN THE PLAN IS

to try to remove Vision's mind stone...but keep a version of Vision in doing so.

Only place that can do this?

Wakanda.

Which is why the showdown of ultimate power takes place...in Wakanda.

Thanos and Friends are there for the Mind Stone.

Vision also tells Wanda if they can't do this...she's got to be the one to kill him and destroy the stone.

Why?

She's literally the ONLY ONE WHO CAN. Because her powers COME from the stone.

Wanda is like 'Nope.'

So during the fight, Shuri (Wakandian Princess and one of the best scientific minds in the human race) is desperately trying to extract the stone from Vision to keep him and destroy it.

Then shit goes sideways.

Shit goes sideways really badly.

And Vision tells Wanda...this is it. There's no more time. You must do this.

And Wanda

want
to

And poor Vision, is forced to push her into it. He tells her she could never hurt him. And demands she do this thing.

And...she does.

And Thanos comes, and she holds him off with her power with one arm, while ...

killing the person she loves with the other.

And she does it.

It is done.

The mind stone destroyed.

VISION destroyed.

And Wanda...poor fucking Wanda...is broken.

And Thanos being a twisted fuck, actually APPRECIATES her sacrifice. He respects her for it.

But it was all for nothing because

HE HAS THE TIME STONE. He reverses time, bringing Vision back.

Then he rips the mind stone from Vision's forehead. I think he screams as it's being done. Wanda can't stop him.

And a decolored grey lifeless Vision, falls to the ground. An empty husk.

And Thanos wins.

And half of all life, is dusted.

INCLUDING WANDA. Who looks as though she welcomes it.

FIVE YEARS LATER...

The Avengers figure out a way to bring everyone back to refight Thanos.

Including Wanda. No time has passed for them.

Wanda JUST saw her love die. No time has passed for her.

Tony dies. They beat Thanos. Black Widow dies.

Vision is still gone. Her brother is still gone. The world is celebrating...and she has lost

EVERYTHING

Again.

And that's where we left Wanda.

A child raised in hell, forged in war, only having her twin to cling to. Everyone...everyone...EVERYONE she has ever loved...has died.

She was close once with Hawkeye...but he had his own demons and now his family is back.

So Wanda has powers, we have no idea what the limits are, and have only been hinted at before. She can create realistic visions in people's minds so real...that Tony believed in them.

She has telekinesis. Telepathy.

She can bend reality. And while we knew this part...it was

not *really* addressed.

And now...

WANDAVISION.

Go watch, it's fucking amazing.

PS: I left out a really important detail.

So as the Avengers are out saving the world n shit...they face a foe who's got a bomb.

Wanda saves people by basically throwing the bomb away from them, up and away....

This is after Ultron. So the world isn't like really thrilled with any of them. And esp not Wanda.

The bomb explodes in the air, taking out a huge portion of a building...killing people...

including the King of Wakanda.

Which is how T'Challa ascends to the throne.

They don't blame WANDA for it specifically. (They blame Winter Solider and that's another story).

But it leads to the Civil War movie where the Avengers are split on whether they ceed all power and control to others, and 'just follow orders' which Tony supports.

Or ...don't. Which is what Cap supports. To sum it up poorly.

Meanwhile Tony is doing all this to try to keep them all FREE. He's got Wanda locked up in the Avengers compound because he wants to let shit settle down. He believes doing all this shit will keep them all the most

free. BUT MY PERSONAL OPINION is that Tony is feeling shitty esp after that mom confronts him on 'my son died because of you and your bullshit' So he wants other people to be responsible not him.

But both Tony and Vision are robbing Wanda of agency by trying to keep her locked

away 'safe'. Hawkeye comes and breaks her out.

But all this feels important to Wanda's story because we've seen her constantly jerked around by others and their agendas, even 'good' agendas or well intentioned agendas.

And poor Wanda, always ends up losing more.
