2/ That was Mike Flynn, Roger Stone, and Stephen K. Bannon, and their foreign funders and allies.

These days you have to fight really hard against seeing significance where there is none to explain away stupid. Otherwise I might speculate on those earlier pardons as a trap.

3/ Of course, it's not that way as LE wouldn't encourage storming the US capitol, and a police officer dying, but the earlier pardons had the same effect, evidently. They thought they would get away with it all.

4/ The social media hacking of 2016, engineered a galactically improbable result. The Russia partisans found one senior DOJ lawyer willing to commit treason and thought they had it all in the bag. There absolutely was a point to the riot. Giuliani's calls prove it.

5/ and in a way, why wouldn't they believe it? Nobody comes away from war unscathed, not even from information warfare. These criminals had hundreds of elected GOP officials going along with their treason. Hundreds. Doing nothing. Trump must have looked invincible.

6/ They pumped out state-level propaganda supplied, designed, and targeted by Russia, don't kid yourselves, and some of them who read it all day probably started to believe it, with disastrous, life-runining consequences. I have no pity for traitors, just stating a fact.
