There is a tendency among Hindu propogandists to brand Sultan Tipu Saheb as a “tyrant” and responsible for “forcible conversions”. Similarly, they term "Malabar Revolution" as a riot & spread lies around it. These two events seperated by 120 yrs are interestingly interwined.

In 1786, Tipu Sultan conquered Malabar and initiated radical land reforms in the region. Untouchable castes of Malabar, who worked as landless peasants on Nair & Brahmin estates and were oppressed by the huge taxes & tyrannical Brahmin apartheid, were granted radical land rights
This was a revolutionary step and completely ended the economic & caste exploitation of sharecroppers & they came in fold of Islam. The land reforms was seen as a huge source of uncertainty among the privileged Castes and they fled to Travancore with “their” temple wealth.

Unlike any ruler before him, Tipu worked seriously in ending the centuries old regressive Caste order from Malabar.
This ban of all Brahminical apartheid by Tipu Sultan & subsequent mass conversion of lower castes to Islam remains a huge source of anger for the Hindu fanatics.
Though, in less than 6 yrs, Tipu Sultan's rule over Malabar came to an end and another bout of oppressive jagirdari system was imposed on the sharecroppers.
However, by now they had got the power of Tawheed in their hearts & it became impossible to subdue them like before.

The emboldened Mapillas grew confident of themselves and continued revolting against the oppressive upper caste exploitation and the British colonialists through the 19th century.
In early 20th century, when the Mapillas were rejuvenated with Islamic brotherhood at

onset of Khilafat movement, they finally overthrew the shackles of Brahmin overlordism and completely liberated Malabar.
Thus, Mapillas freed around 5200 sq. km and it remained independent from the British for whole 6 months in 1921-22.

The Malabar Revolution was eventually subdued by the British, as was the Tiger of Mysore- Sultan Tipoo Saheb.
However, they both continued to be villianised by the British & Hindu historians due to anti-Muslim bias & the symbolicity surrounding them.

It is to be mentioned that though Mapillas were persecuted afterwards but their fight continued throughout the 19th century & exploitative upper caste landlords could never subdue them like before conversion to Islam.
In comparison,

the lower castes from Travancore, who didn’t get the enlightenment of Tawheed in their hearts, remain enslaved and when Mapillas had overthrown the Brits machinery from Malabar at call of rejuvenating Khilafat, the lower caste women were still not allowed to wear upper garments.
At this juncture, when Muslim self respect is at an all time low, we need to re-learn honour from brave Muslims of past like Mapillas and at least fulfill the obligation to not tarnish the 1000 year old glorious Muslim history with stupid actions.
