For the past month, I've been rethinking my relationship with the Theoi and the tradition I am in. It started when I sprained my ankle while hanging fake ivy and could no longer do worship at the shrine.
Then earlier this week, my car got stuck in our driveway as I came home from work. The snowplow had created a snowbank that my car couldn't get over.
I shoveled. I spent nearly 20 minutes moving the car forward and back, trying to get out. While digging, I fell in the snow without my gloves on. My hands froze, feeling both sharp pain and like lifeless meat. I was exhausted.
Out of desperation, I prayed to Ganesha, Remover of Obstacles. "OM GAM GANAPATAYE NAMAH, please, O Lord, help me with this obstacle."
Miraculously, it worked. I was finally able to get the car off the snowbank.

I don't know where this leaves me. I haven't felt like a practitioner of Hellenismos for a good month now. And I'm not suddenly a Hindu. I owe Ganapati an offering, for sure.
