Things I Agree with (Most) Economic Liberals On:
* The housing market should be deregulated
* Regional policy typically does not work
* Multipliers on fiscal policy spending are low, often below 1
* Taxes should be lower, and government spending should be a lower % of GDP
* Most privatisations in Britain since the 1980s have been good, and some (e.g. rail) have not gone far enough
* Corporation tax is a poorly thought out form of tax
* Stop running deficits in a boom!
Things I Disagree With Economic Liberals On:
* Free trade is not an unalloyed good, esp. for developing countries, but even for developed countries
* Migration, especially low-skill migration, is generally bad for a whole variety of (long-term) reasons, economic and otherwise
* I have become increasingly disillusioned with QE; monetary policy needs to be more creative (helicopter money?)
* The state has a significant role in promoting technological progress, even near to or at the technological frontier (though you can't just throw money at things)
* Maintaining at least some kind of agricultural and manufacturing base is sensible for reasons of British national security; I think the pandemic has shown the risks of fully buying into specialising solely in services
