So... I read that Larry Summers op-ed. Frankly, I don't completely understand the whole thing, but he said something that isn't entirely true:

"Unemployment is falling."

Sure, but labor non participation for (Black and Brown) women is increasing. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/10/29/upshot/mothers-leaving-jobs-pandemic.html
Okay so Summers is arguing that the plan to give Americans $2000 checks is too big and implies that things are getting better because unemployment is dropping.

But unemployment is dropping because people who cant find work are just leaving the workforce. His take ignores that.
Beware of economists and policymakers who ignore intersectionality in their analysis and say stuff like "the economy is recovering" and "unemployment is low".

When you hear these takes, your immediate next question should be: Who is the economy recovering for? And why?
At one point, Black women had an unemployment rate of 16.4%, now it's 8.9 percent (highest among all women).

No, things did not get better, people just stopped working. And that is why we need #BlackWomenBest aka monthly stimmys.
