One of my talismanic magic teachers recommended that if you have a planet dignified or exalted natally that you get a talisman of that planet in a *different* sign of dignity or exaltation and I didn't really get what he meant until I, an Aries Sun, made Sun in Leo talismans.

Like my partner and I had already made Sun in Aries talismans at that point and I love them. I have one ring in particular that helps me be more myself. But my Sun in Leo pieces helped me see that I can be attention-getting and charismatic without being flashy or showy about it.

So yeah. If you have Venus in Taurus relatively unafflicted, you'll get serious value out of a Venus in Libra or Venus in Pisces talisman. If you have Mercury in Virgo, pick up a Mercury in Gemini talisman. And so on.

You'll still get significant value out of a talisman of the same placement, don't get me wrong. But it'll likely be in the form of being You only more so and with better results. There's real advantages from being You only from an angle you hadn't considered before.
