My dog, aged nearly 11 at a guess, has never been a food driven creature. Not one of those greedy little pig dogs that begs and can’t be trusted around the kitchen or dinner table (with the exception of a lamb leg incident in her early years).
For the duration of the pandemic, I’ve cooked her dog food. We joke about her gourmet tastes and minimum “3 meat meal”. We have almost no food waste that doesn’t go into her food or at worst, the worm farm. It’s wonderful.
Lately, I’ve been slow cooking her food just because.

Yesterday I made a new dog food recipe of pork, sage, some excess peacharines, brown rice and parsley (parsley goes in all her food cos we have too much).
I packaged it up to freeze and as her dog dish was soaking in the sink, instead of getting another bowl, I trusted that>>>

she would only eat what she needed cos she often leaves food in her bowl if she’s not hungry. So I put out about 5 days worth of food in the storage container for the fridge and when I came back IT WAS ALL GONE.
Tiger weighs 8.8kg at her heaviest. She ate 800g+ of food.

I mean, partly I took it as a compliment because I assume it tasted great, but she’d already eaten quite a lot of corn & capsicum so she was Very Full.
I’ll spare you the details of her bodily functions today but I must let you know that there have been multiple celebrations.

She is a dainty, agile, senior dog who was less than dainty last night. We were prefacing everything with “not to fat shame, Tiger but...” and came up with the hashtag doggybodyposi cos she seemed to be checking her guts out and displaying it with pride quite a lot.
