Good day guys! How is your Saturday going? Most new farmers brooding their birds from day old chicks make some mistakes and I have decided to state one. Remember we discussed vigilance as a must have for a poultry farmer. So a farmer invited me to his farm back in October and
I asked for his vaccination program. He told me his chicks were due for GUMBORO vaccination the following day. I told him he would have to hold on for 2-3 days before administering the vaccine. He said "lailai" that he doesn't miss his vaccination vaccine. He didn't even ask why
should he shift the vaccination for like three days. His birds were sick and dying but he was after vaccination "religion". If he had gone ahead to vaccinate the following day, it would have been disastrous. Vaccinating birds because it is due date without paying attention to
their health is a recipe for disaster. No doctor will vaccinate you against another disease if he is aware you are down with another sickness. It is good to have vaccination schedules but it is brilliant to observe your birds before vaccinating. I have seen farmers regret
vaccinating because they lost their birds.
Don't regret what observation and proactive measures would have solved for you.
I love you guys and congratulations to those celebrating one thing or the other today.
