Scot Govt is including cross dressers in Hate Crimes Bill as a group who deserve protection. Because men in dresses might face attack for their clothing choices. Women are attacked/killed every week because we’re women regardless of clothes. 1/
Of course, women are often blamed for men attacking us because of the clothes we wear. Good to know men won’t face that indignity! We’re told that “sex” won’t be introduced as an aggravator in HCB cos of reasons. Strikes me it’s already all about sex 2/
Anybody think women can claim protection under law pertaining to cross dressers? No. It’s only for men. If they want to pop on stereotypically feminine clothes and are attacked, they can claim their dressing up was an aggravating factor. It is about protecting male sex. 3/
We’re told that cross dressing isn’t the same as identifying as trans (although all part of trans umbrella). Except that a man attacking another man for wrong clothing choices doesn’t know if that man says he’s a woman, or just dresses up in feminine clothes. 4/
Either way, it’s certainly comforting to know that the Govt will have to explain to all of us why Eddie, pictured below, will enjoy protections under the law women don’t. Whilst male violence against women and girls continues to rise, good to know where govt priorities lie. 5/
