The Rose Clinic is a specialist service for women and girls with FGM. Just when I think I have heard all that can be thrown at women, I hear something that shocks me to my core, that stays with me long after the woman leaves the room.

Today is International Day of Zero Tolerance for FGM. #EndFGM. But let's also remember that FGM is one of many forms of #genderbasedviolence that many of our sisters endure worldwide.

Too many women & girls are still seen as commodities, as owned, deprived of the most basic human rights that we, privileged by accident of birthplace or colour of our skin, take for granted.

My asks of you on International Day of Zero Tolerance for #FGM? Don't turn away. Grow your #radicalempathy. Use your voice. Shout loudly. Rattle cages. And if that's not your style? Go with kitchen table advocacy. (I'm Irish-all important conversation happen at The Table)
