Audi CEO Duesmann on the question

Can you tell us when will be the last Audi ICE will be sold?

"No, I can't. I guess it will be somewhere in the late 30s"

He continued

"Our customers like the cars - the combustion vehicle. We have today about 5% BEVs 95% ICE"
Duesmann continued

"It comes now year for year a new (BEV) vehicle. The offering will improve. End of the decade we have possibly 50% BEVs. That's already significant for us."
"Until the 30s, ICE will play a key role, Naturally our core models will be offered as an ICE but we work in parallel also in the classes on a BEV model."
The Audi CEO continued

"I do (transformation) it out of conviction"

"I believe in individual passenger transportation. That is important & we see with CoVid that it's now even more important for people. That's why we want to offer individual transportation that is CO2 neutral"
Duessmann about PHEVs

"The most complex vehicles we make are the Hybrids."

"Because BEVs exist ... it makes out of my perspective sense to take on that technology."
Diesmann about the future

"It will be at the end of the decade still 50% ICE in Europe. We must continue the ICE development and offer respective vehicles and BEVs that offer as much as possible range".
Audi CEO on the question

How is it possible that Tesla build a BEV factory in Germany & why did local automakers sleep

"That we have overslept something I do not comprehend. I mean we also have plants in Germany & we also build in Europe our BEVs (..) I can't see us overslept"
About different drive trains

"For us is openness about technologies not easy to handle. Because we have BEVs, we have the ICE like before then we have the PHEVs & then we have Hydrogen that we also developed for Audi for the VW (..) there a technology clearness would be helpful"
Asked about the Artemis project to be by far too late the CEO said

"Well, we have the e-tron already in the market. And alone in Germany, the e-tron did sell 5 times as often as Tesla Model S&X together. That means it is a successful electric vehicle."
Audi CEO Duesmann continued

"We give full speed. If we are too late or too early will be shown at the end of the decade. We are from our perspective well on the way."

What? 🤨
Duesmann on the question what is the BEV challenge

"It's is clearly the software"

"A Tesla has approached it differently. With a central computer architecture, a very strong vertical integration also in respect of software."
CEO Duesmann continued

"we need to make us free from the established structures in the company as well as the suppliers."

"That is for us the biggest revolution"
Asked about SW cooperations & Google

"We are large enough as a group to cooperate with ourselves and to set standards. We are making 10m vehicles per anno (...) but we are open for partnerships that means if someone wants to be on those standards then that is possible"
