What is PL Homegrown Players Rule ?
The Premier League in 2010 proposed a maximum of 17 Non-Homegrown players in each club squad, and the squad size is a maximum of 25. This means that in a full squad of 25 players, there must be at least 8 Homegrown Players.

What if a club fails to register 8/8+ Homegrown Players ?
The squad size would then be reduced, meaning that if a club for an example has only 6 Homegrown Players then that club would be able to register only 23 Players in their PL Squad.

Note : U21 Players Homegrown Players need not to be registered in the PL squad, a club can use infinite number of U21 Homegrown Players in PL.

Why was Homegrown Players Rule introduced in the first place ?
The Home Grown Players Rule was introduced in 2010 with a view to force the Premier League & Championship clubs to nurture talent from its own shores rather than buy its way to success with foreign talents.

The Prize money obtained by the top clubs in every league is same but the PL Midtable & Bottom Half clubs are earning double compared to their La Liga counterparts.

PL clubs aren't dependent on player sales to keep up with FFP rules & they prefer not to sell the better players as it would hamper their chances of staying up.
