Ultimately it’s the old “we do t need experts” mindset — the idea that scientists’ advice will always be over-cautious and it’s the job of politicians to push back against it for the sake of the economy.
Scientists want society open. Experts hate lockdowns. Researchers love restaurants. Doctors love live performances. Virologists want kids in schools. We are telling you how to bring those things back as soon as possible.
If you do what the experts say, the economy will be back to normal sooner. If you “push back” you will do more harm than good, costing time, money and lives.
How many times do we have to teach you this lesson, old school tie?
