The role was to pay me about 30% more and it was with a big company with huge potential for growth and a possibility of permanent employ at renewal.
I went for an interview and got the job - yaay 🎊
A year later the contract got extended and this not only came with another sizeable increase but with a promotion too.

Now here I am, obviously on top of the world - combos are communicating, ke re bona 😊😝.
Next thing, an email lands on my inbox - Company A is looking for people in your role - contact this person. This is a month after my contract has been renewed for an additional year BTW.
Not a tiny wince of hesitance, I reach out to this person, back and forth emails and...
..an interview date is set - sweeet 😊
I got there, nailed it and rates are discussed - (I obviously got the job 🤑). Couple of weeks later, an offer comes and I'm ecstatic - I resign and I move.
Now wait for it 😅, the new role is a six months contract in another province - talk about being mo risky.
We reach the 6 months and not only do I get an extension for a year but my salary goes up by another sizeable increase. Yaaay, the risk was worth it - it seems 😁.
A year later, same thing - an extension and an increase (the cycle continues...)
Now enter 2020, I'm enjoying this ride and lo and behold COVID strikes 😭😢.
Companies start laying off employees and the 1st thought as a consultant/contractor is - oh sh#t this was a bad move 😐
Half of 2020,I woke up every single day with anxiety, went to bed with anxiety - heyi beku tense 😭😭😭
But despite the anxiety episodes, I continued being a bad a$$ with my work.
Now the time comes for contract discussions and I'm told - we love your work and we'll be extending your contract 👏🏾
That obviously was a huge confidence booster and I thought, why not shoot your shot ntombi and ask for a salary adjustment 😁.

Did exactly that, and I got the salary adjusted and got a role change...
Would I recommend this? NO
But if you like taking risks and working towards certain goals and understand that it could go both ways - then knock yourself out.
