Teacher's in India are highly biased. 'Chaploos' students are ALWAYS given priority, be it marks, giving opportunities in competitions or for that matter anything ! Teachers tend to demoralize those are not able to score marks just because he/she cannot memorize long answers!!
Reservations! I am not against those who actually need reservation, most of the reserved seats are taken up by those ‘backward’ candidates whose family have a sound income and those who had not faced any discrimination throughout their life but everyone should be treated equally!
Biggest problem I see is that everyone wants to become either Doctor or Engineers. It’s their parents who want to have a status in the society that “my son/daughter is an Engineer/Doctor”. Although you can choose what you want. But mostly people do it to get fruitful salaries.
We can relate this situation with the movie 3 idiots in which there is a scene where Aamir khan says, if it’s a girl then Doctor and if it’s a boy then Engineer. There are only 7000 IIT seats available every year and god knows how many candidates appear for the exam.
Science was not invented on papers, but in India it's all about theory ! Is this what science is ? NO!! theory is important but only when accompanied by practicals. All that matters is marks and to get them all u need to do is 'rattafication', no need to understand the concept.
All the studies done are just for the sake of the marks, Is getting marks the only motto of studies ? It's so baseless to judge a student by his/her marks. Marks will never be able to test our innovation, knowledge. Marks are just a reflection of how much we can memorize text.
We are never required to do innovative & creative things ! Priority should be given to field work, project work based on original ideas. That's how Indians will become inventors, not just the users.
Indian students are generally weak on the analysis and assessment part. The history of India is one of the most beautiful as compared with other countries, but children do not study it seriously. They just take it as a boring subject. And that can be bcz of the way it is taught.
It is important that children develop their own perspective towards something in order to succeed. Indian education system teaches children the pre-established views and if they don’t write the same thing in the exam, they fail.
This way, children are never able to develop their own perspective towards anything.
Not all the children are same. While some children are born to study the established things and become great philosophers, there are some other kinds of children who do not want to study the pre-established things but create something new.
Indian students rarely get the chance to put forward their innovative ideas; such is the education system of India. Because they think you can't be successful if you choose a subject of your choice.
An entrepreneur, who doesn't care about History. An musician, whose Chemistry marks won't matter. An sportsperson, whose physical fitness is more important than Physics.

If your child does get top marks then great. But, if he/she doesn't please don't take away their confidence.
