I never need an excuse to watch my favorite Star Trek film, but it is especially appropriate when Christopher Plummer's revels now have ended. Parting is such sweet sorrow.
The video quality of the Blu-Ray is merely adequate. This film needs a 4K remaster, preferably of the extended version.
Cliff Eidelman's score for this movie is beautiful.
I sincerely hope that Christopher Plummer had the time of his life hamming it up as Chang. He certainly looks like he is.
Does Spock keep a supply of tracking devices in his pocket just in case he needs one for when Kirk goes off on some foolhardy mission? Actually, that tracks. Carry on.
Keeping the same Klingon ambassador from Star Trek IV is some nice continuity. Also, hey look, it's another TNG set.
I like how one Klingon in the courtroom laughs at McCoy's arthritis joke.
Spock claiming to be descended from Sherlock Holmes is more believable than the old Vulcan proverb about Richard Nixon.
More movies should use the word "legerdemain."
"I've been dead before."
This story, which at its heart as about our heroes acknowledging their prejudices and overcoming them, is what Star Trek is all about.
