Sex work is not always peachy the way social media makes it seem, and consent isn’t always considered depending on who you are, where you are, and who you’re dealing with. Legalizing the work literally does nothing to stop exploitation.

Las Vegas for example.
Prostitution is legal in 8 counties in Nevada and Las Vegas in particular is rampant with sex trafficking and exploitation. So who are the laws really helping?
Per this article....legally run brothels were actually used as a form of punishment.
Prostitution is also legal in Australia I believe. Again, it does not stop exploitation. What it does however is get weirdos, creeps, and pimps off the hook. Which is a double edged sword for workers, because most pimps participate in both legal and illegal markets.
So when I see people talk about legalizing prostitution because it’s the cool thing to say to appear socially “in”, I can’t help but wonder if folks know any sex workers in real life or if they even looked at places where it IS legal to see how they’re fairing.
