1/ DAY 1 OF 100 - A giraffe giving birth is a horrifying sight.

But it's also an INSPIRING miracle I hope to one day witness.

Let me explain why.

Giraffes give birth standing up. They just straight drop a four legged beast out of their spotted hoo-ha.

2/ The velocity of the 6 foot+ fall breaks the umbilical cord.

The newborn giraffes sometimes come out superman mode: front legs and headfirst.

It's literally 150 pounds. That's more than I weigh.

It plops to the ground in a cloud of dust.

3/ Baby struggles to use its little gangly legs.

Mom takes a look at the wobbly little pathetic creature.

Typically she then KICKS that munchkin down to the ground.

WTF is this child abuse? Someone get National Geographic and CPS asap.

4/ But then... something amazing happens.

The baby finds its shaky footing on the patchy grass

After 15 excruciating seconds... it looks up, beaming and triumphant.

"Look mah I can stand!"

and then the mom kicks him again.

LOL.

5/ This repeats probably half a dozen to a dozen times until the giraffe baby is able to quickly hit the floor and then get back up again.

And that's when you realize.

This mama giraffe's strange cruelty is actually the greatest gift ever.

6/ Mama giraffe has taught her tyke the most powerful lesson in the world:

How to brush yourself off after a beatdown, get back up, and keep kicking.

From now on, the baby will be faster and safer from the hyenas and lions prowling the Savannah.

7/ I've told my partner about this strategy - she's not convinced at all when we someday have kids that I can bulldoze them down to get them to learn how to walk faster.

But I have years to sway her. Just you wait Brooke.
