The number 1 thing you must ask yourself before trying to grow your Twitter account.

Why do I want a large following?

A Thread.
I’ve received lots of DMs asking how to grow a Twitter following

*Why me? I only have 7k followers

I always respond with this question

“Why do you want to grow a following?”
While I encourage each of you to ask yourself, most that DM me don’t know why they want a large following.

- Maybe they see others announcing new Twitter milestones and feel inadequate

- Maybe they want to play the vanity game

- Who knows
Twitter is small compared to other platforms like Instagram, YouTube, etc.

If you want to make money?
You can do it there

Want to be ‘famous’?
You can viral there

Want to sell some low quality info product?
You can —- actually 🧐
Had a guy DM me recently asking about growing their Twitter and he had a legit reason why he wanted to grow his account.

Paraphrasing his response

“To network with people in MY niche without having to be super professional (takes out LinkedIn)”
I explained he didn't a large number of followers to achieve his goal.

What he needs is a good amount of high quality people in his niche to vouch for him.

Most people get lost in the metrics and think 50k broad followers is better than 1k engaged followers in your niche
People tend to go for the broad following at the beginning then get frustrated when they can't get their intended message through to their audience.

False growth if you ask me.

These followers won't get you any closer to your goals.
Here is the advice I gave the guy.

Identify the big players in your niche and get them to follow you - after you get the follow, make a genuine relationship with them.

A retweet/quote retweet/ shoutout from them is worth more than you think
