I see some scoundrels who've never set foot inside a courtroom to try a criminal case now saying that this case was not pursued because it was weak. (PS) The consistent course of conduct by men and women in power of both political parties has been to give Trump endless license and then hope it all works out in the end. These are people who helped build a criminal justice system that takes the opposite view with everyone else.
(PS2) One thing I won't do is pretend—as much as I like and admire Biden—that I respect his view, now conveniently mirrored up and down his DOJ, that holding Trump accountable isn't just bad politics but bad policy. No—in all eras and places, cowardice is always merely cowardice.
