The only thing I dislike more than the choice to kill off Ben Solo is the idea of Star Wars further weakening its relationship with death. It’s done resurrections twice already with wildly messy results and I need there to be finality in these stories, even prematurely.

Maul I understand within the context of a cartoon but Ahsoka had a holistic and tragic end to her arc rewritten for...reasons? Both instances of a writer not being able to let characters go organically and it unsurprisingly led to some pretty inorganic writing down the track.

I hadn’t even considered Palpatine because I think that dude is more spectre than genuine resurrection in Rise. But still another example how awkward things become when death is undermined for the sake of more Content.
