5 things:

1) people with zero care about child refugees and children who have missed years of education because of war now overwhelmed with worry about year 2s falling behind by SATs standards
2) assumption of mass problems with children’s mental health resulting from them being at home, with their families
3) making the above such a big general priority that it floods and narrows access to children’s mental services even further still for those children with big need. Further still, a confused understanding of ‘wellbeing’ upon return to school. You know what I mean.
4) total disregard and dismissal of all the online teaching that has gone on, teachers and parents busting their guts to keep children learning. As though all a waste of time and real work can only begin once children sit in a classroom. Never mind any progress and thriving.
5) Gaps have widened and teachers know this. It will for a while be like teaching two to three year groups in one class, even more so than before. Support teachers and schools. Vote for parties that will better fund schools and these needs.
