this thread will be about the few songs by nicki minaj that were meant to be official singles but plans were canceled for some reason.

This song never was released but it was intended to be the lead single off her first album when it was supposed to come out in Q2 2009. She although scrapped the material to work on what we know as “Pink Friday”.

2. “Va Va Voom” (2012)
This song was actually released as the 5th single off Roman Reloaded but it was actually intended to be the lead single off the album.
It was slated to impact Rhythmic radio on February 7 then got pushed back to the 14th as well as a Pop radio impact.

The music video was also shot in December 2011 but she scraped the song and replaced it with “Starships” as she didn’t like the end product of the video.

This song was released as the first promotional single off the album, 10 days after “Starships” release. It was supposed to be sent to Urban Radio on March 7, but was canceled and “Right By My Side” got sent instead on the 27th.

The song was part of a poll in May 2012 asking fans what song should be a single and lost to “Champion”. A month later, Minaj confirmed “Champion” would get a video and will be sent to Urban radio.

Reasons are unknown but “Champion” was never sent to any radio and after rumors that “IAYL” would be the next urban single in August, the rapper released a video for the song but it never got sent to radio either.

This one was actually confirmed to get a video during an interview with The Guardian. Its radio release was delayed due to “Va Va Voom” taking off on the radio in the UK instead.

Following a poll asking fans, what song should get a video after “Barbie Dreams”, “Majesty” (which lost to “Good Form”) was still scheduled to impact Rhythmic radio on October 16 but was canceled a few days after the announcement.
